Reputation And The Elmer Board
How reputation points are given and received, the weekly pool, and how the Elmer Board is ranked.
Reputation
Reputation is how QSL Shack recognizes the operators who help other operators. It is given by members to members, never by the platform, and it is the one number on the site that cannot be earned by activity alone.
Points you receive are yours permanently. Your profile shows your lifetime total alongside what you received this year, this month and this week, and each award can carry a short note from the operator who sent it.
The Elmer Board ranks the top 500 operators by lifetime reputation, and it is reached at Elmer Board in the site navigation.
How To Award Reputation Points
- Open the operator's profile.
- Press Award Reputation Points.
- Choose how many points to give.
- Add a note if you want to say what it was for. Up to 140 characters, and optional.
- Press Award Points.
The screen tells you how many points you have left before you commit any.
How The Weekly Pool Works
You are granted 10 reputation points each week to award to other members.
You may award any one member only once per week. Give an operator three points on Monday and that operator is done until the pool resets, even if you have points left for others.
The pool resets at midnight UTC each Saturday. Points you do not award do not carry over.
You cannot award points to yourself, and you cannot award them to an administrator account.
How The Elmer Board Is Ranked
The board lists the top 500 operators by lifetime reputation points, highest first. Nothing else is counted: not contacts, not cards, not how long an account has been open.
An operator who has never received points is not on it.
What To Watch For
Reputation is not a measure of activity. It counts what other operators thought of you rather than what you did, which is what makes it worth having and what makes it slow to build.
A note is worth writing. Ten points a week is a small budget, and an award that says what it was for is worth more to the person receiving it than the number is.
Your points go further when you spread them. The once-per-member rule exists so that reputation cannot be concentrated on one operator by one enthusiastic friend.
