What Do I Need To Sign Up?

An email address. A callsign is not required to create an account, although most of what QSLShack does is built around one.

What Happens When I Enter My Callsign?

QSLShack looks it up and shows you what the license record says. You confirm that the record is yours before anything is saved.

This is why signing up with a callsign is quicker than signing up without one. Your name, your location and your license details are already filled in, and you correct anything that is wrong rather than typing all of it.

What Are The Three Steps?

Look up your callsign. Enter it and QSLShack finds the license record.

Confirm your identity. Check that the record shown is yours.

Fill in the registration form. Your screen name, your email address and a password.

What Is My Screen Name?

It is how you are known on QSLShack, and it is your profile address. If your screen name is KN4DZD, your profile is at qslshack.com/operator/KN4DZD.

A screen name may contain letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores.

Can I Sign Up Without A Callsign?

Yes. Use Register without a callsign, and add one later when you are ready.

An account without a callsign can post, join groups, follow operators and take part in the community. Logging contacts and exchanging QSL cards need a callsign, because a logbook belongs to one.

Do I Have To Verify My Email Address?

Yes. QSLShack sends a verification link when you register. Until you follow it, your account is limited.

What Happens Right After I Register?

A short guided setup. QSLShack asks where you operate from, then walks you through creating your first logbook. Both are filled in from what it already knows about you, so in most cases you are checking the answers rather than supplying them.

At the end it shows you your details to review, and the QSL card it has already built for you. You do not have to design one to finish setting up.

Can I Customize That QSL Card?

Yes, whenever you like. Add your own image and colors in the card designer.

The designer is not part of the guided setup. The default card is there so you can start exchanging cards immediately, and you change it when you want to rather than before you have made a contact.

Where Do I Add Things Later?

In your settings. Once you are through the guided setup, your callsigns, your locations, your logbooks and your QSL card are all managed there, and you add as many as you need.
