Creating Your Account

An account is free, and all you need to open one is an email address. A callsign is not required, although most of what QSL Shack does is built around one.

Signing up with a callsign is faster than signing up without one, because QSL Shack looks the callsign up and fills in your name, your location and your license details. You check what it found rather than typing all of it.

How To Sign Up With A Callsign

1. Enter your callsign and press Look Up.
2. Read the record QSL Shack found and answer Is this you?. If something in it is wrong, correct the name, city, state, grid square or country of license here.
3. Enter your Email Address and choose a Password.
4. Submit the form.

Your callsign becomes how you are known on QSL Shack and it is your profile address, qslshack.com/operator/ followed by your callsign.

How To Sign Up Without A Callsign

1. Press No callsign on the sign-up screen.
2. Choose a Screenname. Letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, and it becomes your profile address in the same way a callsign would.
3. Enter your Email Address and choose a Password.
4. Submit the form.

An account without a callsign can post, join groups and clubs, follow operators, attend events and take part in everything social. Logging contacts and exchanging QSL cards need a callsign, because a logbook belongs to one.

Add a callsign whenever you are ready, from Account Settings. Nothing has to be redone.

How To Verify Your Email Address

QSL Shack sends a verification link when you register. Follow it. Until you do, your account is limited.

If the message has not arrived, check the folder your mail program files bulk mail in before asking for another one.

How To Complete The Guided Setup

After you verify your email, QSL Shack walks you through two steps: where you operate from, and your first logbook. Both are filled in from what it already knows about you, so in most cases you are checking rather than typing.

The last screen shows your details to review and the QSL card QSL Shack has already built for you. You do not have to design a card to finish setting up.

How To Add Things Later

Everything the guided setup created is managed in Account Settings afterwards, and you add as many as you need: callsigns, locations, logbooks and QSL cards.

Adding a second callsign does not mean a second account. One account holds all of your callsigns, each with its own logbook and its own card.

What To Watch For

The information the sign-up screen shows you comes from your license record. You can change anything that is yours to change, and the record itself stays as the registry holds it.

Your email address is how you sign in and how QSL Shack reaches you, so use one you will keep.
